Location
Sapporo is the fifth-largest city in Japan by population, and it is the capital of Hokkaido Prefecture. Sapporo is known outside Japan for hosting the 1972 Winter Olympics, the first ever held in Asia, and for the city's annual Sapporo Snow Festival, which draws more than 2 million tourists from around the world. Sapporo is one of the popular tourist attractions in Japan. Many historical buildings, as well as shopping malls and parks, are located in Sapporo, and draw many tourists in every year. For access from outside of Hokkaido, travel by air is most common. The New Chitose airport is connected to a network of airports throughout Japan and also to Seoul, Beijing, Shenyang, Dalian, Shanghai, Taipei, Guam, and Hong Kong.
Venue
The conference venue is School of Engineering, Hokkaido University. Hokkaido University was originally founded in 1876 as Sapporo Agricultural College. The university is known to have a beautiful campus with trees, springs, rivers and historical buildings.
